Logan
Dernoshek Racing
was founded in 1993
when Warren Dernoshek
introduced his son,
Logan, to high performance
kart racing, which
is the primary training
ground for nearly
all of today’s professional
race drivers. Through
the seasons they
advanced to master
several classes,
amassing over 35
feature wins at
numerous dirt and
asphalt oval tracks.
The team also competed successfully in
several national
class events against
drivers from across
the USA.
In
1996, after two
and a half successful
years of karting,
the father-son team
made the move to
the growing UMP
modified division.
The duo quickly
adapted to the full
size stock car and
proved that they
were contenders
by racking up over
15 top ten finishes.
More impressive,
the team earned
a feature win in
their rookie year
against teams with
many years of experience.
The
1997 season saw
the team continue
their winning ways
by compiling 30
top ten finishes
and four feature
wins. The team finished
second in the extremely
challenging York
Triathlon Series
against 120 veteran
drivers. The team
also finished second
in Sterling Dash
points (Part of
the Triathlon Series)
and Pittsburgh's
Pennsylvania Motor
Speedway track points.
A second in the
Pennsylvania region
and a 77th of 3,000
in UMP national
points were also
garnered.
In
1998 Logan Dernoshek
Racing once again
competed in the
UMP modified division
at Pennsylvania
Motor Speedway.
The team also competed
in five races in
the NASCAR Late
model division at
Motordrome Speedway.
LDR saw their success
continue as they
captured three feature
victories and never
failed to finish
outside the top
five in 25 races
in the modified.
The NASCAR Late
model brought success
also as they gained
a top ten finish
in five starts.
Logan
Dernoshek Racing
moved to the NASCAR
Late Model division
full time in 1999.
Their rookie year
was a successful
one as they qualified
for every race and
gained two top ten
finishes. The team
was also able to
win a heat race
near the end of
the year. LDR gained
great exposure as
one of the top rookie
teams.
With
the new millennium
came new things
at Logan Dernoshek
Racing. The team
campaigned a 2000
Hamke chassis with
a Pontiac Grand
Prix body at Motordrome
Speedway every Friday
night. Throughout
the year LDR was
very competitive
against the 30 car
fields that were
the norm at Motordrome.
Successes throughout
the year included
winning several
heat races, racking
up ten top ten finishes,
and an eighth place
points finish. The
highlight of the
season was the team
leading 50 laps
of the Snap-On-Tools
200 special event,
the biggest event
of the year in western
Pennsylvania. The
team finished the
race on the lead
lap with a top ten
finish.
The
2001 season brought
new challenges to
the Logan Dernoshek
Racing team. A record
number of rainouts
made it difficult
to gain momentum
and fine tune the
race car. However,
the team was able
to garner 9 top
ten finishes and
win several heat
races at Motordrome
Speedway. LDR also
made an appearance
at Jennerstown Speedway
earning a top
five finish.
Logan
Dernoshek Racing
Inc. truly had a
breakout year in
2002. The team scored
three feature victories,
numerous heat race
victories, 15 top
five finishes, 20
top ten finishes
and a top five in
points. One of the
team's three victories
was the Eastgate
Dodge 100; the first
leg of the Motordrome
triple crown. The
team gained valuable
exposure for their
sponsors and was
a fan favorite throughout the season.
